what a thrilling conclusion! i loved this, and was gripped from start to finish. i do think this would be cooler as a visual media, and more effective, but it was a fun series overall and the finale was great.

“What if the lines weren’t so clearly drawn? What if she wasn’t either a hero or a villain? What if she was both?”

This series didn’t go how I thought it was going to but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I love a happy ending and I love the potential for more (especially with that epilogue). The conclusion of this trilogy continued to ask interesting questions of morality as Nova and Adrian’s secrets got closer and closer to coming to light. I just didn’t think those secrets could come to light and then go back into the dark. That being said the plot was a little all over the place and some of these characters aren’t the smartest with putting two and two together, but at it’s core this series is about heroes and villains and the choices we make defining who we are. Overall, this was an interesting world to be in, I’m gonna miss these characters a lot, and I’m holding out hope for more in the future.

I enjoyed this series as a whole, but this book took me an extremely long time to finish. Thankfully, I was able to borrow the audiobook from Libby and read half of it like that. There were so many revelations that left me with my jaw on the floor. I wish I hadn’t gotten the epilogue spoiled by the wiki but I still liked it. I think the main reason I got into a reading slump was because of how long the book was rather than the content. My favorite scene was the Puppeteer’s speech. Absolutely heartbreaking and shocking. Never expected to read that type of scene in a Marissa Meyer book. Outstanding execution (no pun intended).

This book tied up a lot of elements that were weaved through the first two books. There were some twists I wasn’t expecting, and some questions that were answered. It was a decent ending to the trilogy.

I always wondered why Meyer chose Honey Harper, a character with control over insects, as one of the main villains, but it made more sense in this book.

The epilogue:
I could tell immediately that the voice was not Nova’s, but it somehow took me until Magpie saying Max was cute to realize whose POV I was reading. I just thought that was really funny. I enjoyed the last chapter being told from her POV instead of Nova’s. It began and ended with Magpie at the parade, which felt like a nice full circle moment. Also, I loved the reveal that Magpie is Evie.

The ending:
Personally, I like the idea that everyone is magic in some way. That ordinary talents- like someone being a good cook, or some else being good at bonding with animals, are actually little signs of magic. However, I find myself wishing that the story had ended with them all losing their powers instead of all being superheroes. I mean doesn’t them all having literal superpowers defeat the purpose? Like anyone can be a hero *without* literal superpowers.

An amazing conclusion to a great series. This book gripped me in a way that didn’t let me put it down, always wanting to turn to the next page.

And that epilogue!! Wowowow

I enjoyed this one a lot, it was a little slow in the beginning/middle but it definitely picked up in the second half of the book (and that ending battle was *chefs kiss*. I wish we’d get more information about that epilogue because wow that was an interesting way to end a book.

I really liked this whole series, but this was by far the best book in the series. I loved the reoccurring themes of morality, villains, heroes, justice, the grey areas in between, how everything is not so black and white, and all the other topics it touched on. Nova was my favourite character and I loved her so much, she was such a strong character and the romance between her and Adrian was well done. I thought the concept, plot, and world building were also great, and there were so many unexpected moments and twists, especially the ending. (I had a prediction for the ending, which kind of ended up happening but it wasnt final and the complete opposite then ended up happening)  The first two books I really liked, but this book I loved. This series was so fun to read and it was such a unique concept for books, since for movies superhero movies are really common, but in books there aren't half as many.
