read for book club and not a book I would normal choose.
The ending felt rushed

Deeply personal and focused on very real grief and pain and fear, Demchuk has somehow managed to give a history of the loss in Toronto's Gay scene and meld it with a supernatural/demonic horror story and still honour everyone involved. And, he's intercut it all with his experiences, his history and the loss and fears and horror obsession that are driving this book. The personal pieces within the horror story are what grabbed me and kept me here. The bits of Toronto history, both joyous and awful, places I've been, spots my friends hit, the waves and generations of desire and death baked into the city I live in, were fascinating, sometimes creepy and often heartbreaking. I think this will be a favourite book of many who feel that deep personal click. He's an amazing writer and I wish there was another book of his for me to read.

Loved most of the story but didn’t feel like it stuck the landing. I liked that it was a little ambiguous, but felt like it happened really quickly.

The plot was clever how it wound together but as there where lots of charicters who you didn't spend much time with I didn't get into it. Not bad just not my thing.

Northern English folklore
Good horror story, spliced by essays by the author
Can tell he wrote this instead of going to therapy
Super inconclusive ending
