Betting on Sin is book 2 of the Betting on series by Maria Ann Green but you can read it as a standalone. Greta had decided to be the next Bachelorette in an television show. Instead of falling for one of the guys who joined the show, she’s falling for the camera man Oliver.
To be honest, I don’t watch the Bachelor of Bachelorette shows on television, but I was curious about this book so I was glad I got the opportunity to get an e-arc. I though Greta and Oliver were nice characters, the book was fine but it didn’t get my attention all the way.

Betting on Sin is the second book of the Betting On series but my first book of Maria Ann Green. The mini synopsis of the first book caught my eye, and Greta had my attention from page one. Though there's only one point of view, Maria Ann writing style is captivating. She has a special connection with words, her attention to detail and use of adjectives sets the mood, theme and tone of the chapter. Greta is a realistic and relatable character who is wearing her heart on her sleeve. Her authenticity and inner thoughts were a delight to read. Ollie is such a well-crafted character who is at personal crossroads, and being around Greta helps him face those challenges. Their chemistry is instant, and both of them bring out the best in each other. The ending brought a big smile to my face, and I look forward to reading more of Maria Ann's work.

Hey, can I steal you for a second? If you, too, are a nonsensical person missing the Bachelor Nation pseudo-reality tv landscape, have I got the recommendation for you. First, how are you not binging Love Island on hulu? Second, this indie romance, Betting on Sin, has got you covered.
Greta landed in third place on last season of Lock and Key, and she now finds herself lonely at the top as this season's Key, 30 hopeful Locks vying for her heart and television ratings. But what if she feels more for one of the cameramen on the show than any of the contestants?
I love the premise of this book. It scratched my reality tv itch and gave me some top shelf drama (yay!). However, I didn't feel that I really got to know Greta or Ollie as well as I wanted to. Also, I'm not a fan of the trope where everyone's tears could have been avoided with proper communication.
Overall, I recommend this to fellow dating reality tv fans who want a light read to fill the void left by covid-19.

I adored this book! I loved sharp, smart, no-shit Greta, her boys, and especially the crew of characters who are staff on The Key. Maria Ann Green crafts her characters to be smart, complex, and flawed, while still moving the plot along. If you are looking for a thoughts-racing friends-to-lovers book in a "The Bachelor" setting, this one is for you!
