Leo’s journey is heartwarming and Cass’ strength and loyalty while still holding him to higher standard is inspiring throughout.

Leo was temptation personified, rugged sex appeal entangled with the thrill of the forbidden. He was the flame I’d known would burn but I’d touched it anyway.

I met those caramel eyes and drowned. Would she hold out a hand to haul me to the surface?

“What are we?”
“Beats the hell out of me. I’ve never done this before.”
“Had a baby?”
“Had a Cassandra.”

He was my safety net. One day, I hoped to be his.

“They will come for us.”
“They will.”
“What do we do?”
“What we’ve always done. We protect what’s ours.”
“At all costs.”

Despite accidental pregnancy being a trope I don’t generally enjoy, I really liked reading this book! Leo is one of those characters who can’t see the good in them and therefore consistently gets in their own way of happiness. I found myself rooting for Leo right from the start. I also really like Cassandra. I think the up and down dynamic of their relationship for the first half of the book was very realistic. I was so glad when they worked it out. I wish we got a little more closure when it came to the attempted murder plot- I needed a little bit for explanation as to why
Tucker’s nephew went to such lengths to try to kill Leo specifically <\spoiler>. Maybe we’ll find out more in the final book. I have not been able to put this series down and am sad to only have one book left!
