I really enjoyed this book but I feel like a version of this story being told from Sebastian’s perspective would have been more impactful, Tanner as a protagonist got under my skin sometimes. However I do understand that Tanner’s perspective is more lighthearted than what Sebastian’s would have been and that this makes his perspective more palatable to a wider group of people.

I don’t actually care if you break my heart, Sebastian. I went into this knowing it could happen and I gave it to you anyway. But I don’t want you to break your own. You have so much space in your heart for your church, but does it have space for you?

This is the first time I have read a book by this author duo and I can confidently say it will not be my last. The story that they have created here was beautiful, heart-breaking and so lovingly crafted. It was clear how much the authors cared about their characters and their growth. I fell for all the characters instantly, making the book so readable and easy to fly through!

This is a 4/5 star book for me personally because I did find the insta-love a little hard to believe (Tanner and Sebastian are attacked to each other instantly, although it does take some time for them to talk about these feelings) and perhaps certain traits in the side characters were a little bit overdone (namely, Tanner's supportive parents). In terms of the writing and structure of the book, I found the change in perspective at the very end of the book very odd. I love stories that are told through multiple perspectives, but jumping from first person to third person and then back again right at the end of the book? I feel like the same effect could have been achieved in a more subtle way.

I enjoyed the book regardless and would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a sweet and innocent love story between two very loveable characters!
