Wow. The art in this manga is absolutely stunning, the characters are complicated and I’m sure the nuances will show more in the sequel, and that plot twist has me SHOOK.

I saw another review describe this as a “slow-burn horror” and honestly that’s exactly what it is.

Blood on the Tracks is about Seiichi whose mother is very protective of him. He's in middle school and when a family trip during the summer goes wrong, his whole life changes.
I thought this was a really interesting start to a manga series. I have heard a lot of people rave about this series and how good it is. I think this was a very solid start to a new manga series.
I found the artwork beautiful. I love appreciating the artwork in manga's and this one was no different. It isn't dialogue heavy which means you have to focus on the artwork to really get the whole story. I found it really interesting how the characters were written and portrayed in this. A lot of this manga was establishing the characters and the story.
Now this might be a me thing but I've heard so many people saying the ending of this manga was shocking but I kinda saw it coming from a mile away? Again, this could be a me thing as I had other people talk about this before and was prepared for something to happen.
Overall, I thought this was a pretty solid start to a manga series and I am excited to continue on and see what's in store later on down the line.

Seiichi is a timid tweenage boy w/ a normal life and a loving mother, but one summer day he witnesses something that turns their relationship into one of insidiously mundane, domestic horror

i love this manga but with the series reaching its (at time of writing) 13th English language tankoban release and no end in sight, the already slow pace is beginning to wear me out. the sheer amount of psychological abuse and emotional humiliation Sei goes thru is excruciating, and makes it hard to recommend to anyone but the most resilient enjoyers of the psychological horror genre
