Could have done without the
third act breakup and loan shark storyline
but mostly a perfect end to three beautifully broken stories 💕

I need a minute. Trust the process. Trust the process. Trust the process. I am so glad I read this book. As Still Beating remains one of my absolute favorite books of all time, Lotus warmed my heart and this book...THIS BOOK runs a tight tight race with Still Beating. Jennifer Hartmann brings her beautiful writing style, her gutting characters and story lines, and her hopeless love HEAs every time. The Stars Are On Our Side is no exception.

We get to dive into Tabitha and Matthew's story, learning how they met, what circumstances lead to their abduction by The Matchmaker, and what ultimately happened in those weeks in the basement dungeon. Tabitha is also in a torrid whirlwind with Gabe, who - let me tell you - IS A SAINT. I want to believe that his name was chosen for that reason.

Tabitha tries to heal, Gabe loves her through it. The push and pull is so incredibly painful that I literally felt it in my chest several times while I was reading this book. While being absolutely gutted, you really just have to trust the process.

There are some fun interactions with Sydney and Oliver and Cora and Dean. I'm so glad we didn't have to say goodbye to them as we moved through the series.

This book is raw and deep and painful. Once again the trauma and healing and trauma resurfacing and trying to heal is so real. Jennifer nails it so beautifully. I'm sad that this trio is technically over but my heart will always be with Cora and Dean, Syd and Oliver and Tabitha and Gabe / (Matthew).

**Know the trigger warnings. Read them before.

jennifer hartmann i thank you for your service of getting me out of my book slump !! the stars are on our side was soooo good. i love the characters. i liked this change in dynamic. usually, these couples in this authors work build over time from scratch, which i absolutely love. however, going into this book, they were already friends with a touch of unrequited love. it was done so excellently. it genuinely made my heart warm how patient the mmc was with the fmc's healing process. love love!
