I loved this book!!! The characters were lovable, and the plot was fascinating. It was interesting to imagine a world where they can predict death. Would read again.

Very sweet and really depressing book, the romance felt pretty forced and the ending felt rushed but was still adourable and really gay

It wasn’t sad at all for me, just kinda disappointing. At times it kinda felt like a slog to get through.
This book is meant to take place over the span of one day, and because of that I find the characters and their developing relationship a little unrealistic. Honestly my controversial thoughts are that the author could take away the concept of Death-Cast and it might actually be a better book. I’m serious. It does nothing to help the pacing issues I had with the book. Removing it could have allowed itself to expand on the relationships in a more organic way. We didn’t really need to have a narrative reason for the characters to know they were about to die that day for the themes to still be present.
I don’t know. I know it makes for a different book entirely but whatever. I guess I just mean that this really didn’t work for me.
I didn’t like Mateo but I liked Rufus. He was a cool character that was allowed to be troubled, so to speak. So for that an extra star.

You can already tell from the cover of the book that it’ll be sad, but it’s also funny, relatable, and similar to a warm, loving hug that ends with a stab in the back.

Ugh this was so good, and every bit as bittersweet as the title would imply. An interesting and emotional read about how to handle your impending death in a world where you get some advanced warning about it. What that can do to someone, how different people react and handle (or not) the news. How death should not be experienced alone, but we dont die together. How you choose to say goodbye if you had the time to.

Deathcast did not call today, because today was not my last day.
Interesting concept in to this book. What if we knew today was our last day? Also, on our last, we could use an app to “find a friend” to die with. This story made me think a lot about the choices one might make in this situation.
As for the characters in this book, the story was a bit lacking for me. Their last day did not wow me with their decision making. The ending was not spectacular either. I give it 3 stars for the concept, and original writing.
