I enjoyed this true crime graphic novel, it told a story I knew nothing about.
Because of its unique drawing style, which I enjoyed in terms of artistic style and effect, I found it sometimes hard to follow.

There's a lot that I liked about this book. The dialogue is great, the characters are very well done and distinct. Then there are a lot of little things that really took me right out of the story, such as typos and panels that ran straight into the inner gutter. In a few places this latter problem was bad enough to make panels and speech bubbles completely unreadable. Also the art. As a stylistic choice it fits the story perfectly. Hard lines, all black and white, most of the time it's great, but when all of your main characters are middle-aged white guys wearing suits, this sort of art can make it difficult to tell who's who all the time.

Equal part “From Hell” and David Fincher, Bendis and Andreyko create an awesome true crime story based off the real life Torso killings. The book features Bendis on art duties along with writing and features art that would be seen in his other crime noir comics from the time. Though Bendis doesn’t use the mixed media approach as well as colleague David Mack and inspiration Bill Sienkewicz, his eye for storytelling and creative uses of the comics page is captivating. The story rushes towards its climax and kind of just ends, but the ride to the top of this roller coaster was worth the time.
