Slow, atmospheric, mysterious. I enjoyed the setting and the characters. I enjoyed the flashbacks and the hints.

For a debut, I enjoyed my time with it. I agree with some reviews that it's nothing stellar, or out of this world, and can be boring to some, but it's easy to read and simple. I also liked pairing my reading experience with the audiobook. It brought me back to when I lived in Australia, even though the characters were definitely surface level, and at times stereotypical. Content warning that there are a couple of slurs written.
