Another really fun book. It took a little while to get going, but once it did, it rocked. And, bonus fun, there were a number of really fabulous, knee-slapping reveals. Onwards to House of Many Ways!

Meh. DNF-ed after ch2 (2023/08) as that wasn't at all what I was expecting post-Howl's Moving Castle! No Howl or Sophie, we're suddenly in Arabic world Aladdin's style and from the pov of a man of the time. ew

I found this book less engaging than Howl’s Moving Castle but maybe because I was more interested in Howl and Sophie than I was in these new characters. I might have enjoyed this book more if I hadn’t read the first one before. The ending was good though!

Is there any other way you can describe someone other than fat? That is really someone's whole defining characteristic, not they're eyes or hair, just they're body?

Diana Wynne Jones is the most imaginative, amazing children's literature author ever. Ever wonder where the movie Howl's moving Castle came from? Right here.
