Never have I read a series where the villain is the main character. This is a great story and has me wondering where it is going to go from here.

Amazingly dark. Love it. I am hoping the last book doesn't include redemption.

Absolutely loved this book! Marie Lu is a fantastic writer who can make her characters have so much depth. I loved how I was able to fully understand everyone’s motives and desires. I understood why characters did what they did, I may not have agreed with it but I understood. Amazing book! I can’t wait to read the next book!

The Rose Society is an immersion into hell. The lines between good and evil are so blurred that you never know what the right answer is or even if one exists. The good guys don't wear white hats nor do the bad guys don black hats.
Adelina Amouteru is a tiger off her leash. She's surrounded herself with a thief and mercenaries, who are only known to work for the right price. As her powers have grown stronger and with it has come some unsavory side effects, that have Violetta desperately trying to pull her back into the light. The Dagger Society are making loyalties with a foreign queen who has her own agenda for wanting the queen of Kenettra out of power.
Marie Lu has created an array of characters who will stop at nothing to see their goals achieved. It's a thrilling journey through the darker side of human nature. If you love villains and want a good origin story this series is what you want.

Holy hell Adelina is psychotic. It’s like watching a car crash, I can’t stop reading.
Regarding Magiano, his feelings for her are not believable in the slightest. For the majority of the book I thought he was just showing interest in order to become a closer ally. He’s too smart to fall for her.

Wow, what a fantastic sequel! This book really shows how power can corrupt a person. Talk about character development! I'm looking forward to seeing how things will wrap in the final book, because this has been one crazy ride.

I didn't think I would need this book as much as I did. Marie Lu is such a great writer and this book was so much fun to read!! Honestly, the first book was pretty dark, but that's because we weren't expecting it. In the Rose Society, we are fully aware of Adelina's inner darkness, so it's more like "woah what are you going to do now" or "that's pretty ruthless" versus "why is the main character so evil?!"
Also the setting is flawless. Reading this book, I felt like I was in Renaissance Italy. The characters are so defined in their design and personality. You can never get bored with this bunch.
BONUS: Really great ending, I can't wait for the Midnight Star to come out.
