I read this despite not liking Vol. 1 of the comics, and I regret it. The story was extremely rushed and poorly thought out, the original villain had no reason or purpose, the night games were extremely rushed and the challenges were simple and seemingly very easily completed, and the characters all remained 2D as in the first comic.
I really wanted to like these, as I really enjoyed the Shades of Magic series and was excited to see the world and the magic in visual format, but the comics are just so bad - especially when compared with the books. Vol. 3 isn't available as an ebook at my library, and unfortunately I won't be making an effort to seek it out elsewhere and complete this series. Also I continue to dislike the art style, it hasn't grown on me at all from the first volume.

I liked it a lot, the graphics are great and the story has potential. But it goes on really fast, maybe too fast. The trials could have been really interesting but it's really too fast to be so... The first "villain" of this issue isn't... Well, he doesn't make sense? Idk. I still liked it for its potential and it's link to the novel trilogy. Gotta be honest tho, not sure you'd understand a thing without having read the novels first.

I enjoyed this one a bit more than the first- I think because it was easier for me to follow. Very action-packed and some cool new villains were introduced. :) This volume felt more like a traditional superhero comic book than the first volume.
