If you are looking for the heartwarming Mark Williams TV version of Father Brown, don’t read this. Most definitely a product of its time, there is anachronistic language, and a much darker aspect to the stories.

In some of these stories, the explanation of the crime stops rather abruptly, not carried to its full conclusion which is left implied. But the stories are nevertheless ingenious, with neither impulsive nor premeditated crimes being left unsolved by Father Brown.

2.5/5 stars. I do not know why but I just couldn't get into this one. That is really all I can say at the moment.

Not what I thought it would be - much more international and not just based in his parish. Fun, but definitely not on the level of Holmes. I probably won't bother reading any more

Father Brown is an intriguing character and it is rather impressive how he gets shoehorned into all these murder mysteries. Some of the stories were better than others.
