DNF at 38 pages

I went into it knowing I would DNF it but wanted to at least read some of it before giving up. This isn't the kind of book I generally enjoy, historical romance is not a genre I reach for. Within a few pages I found the main character very frustrating. On top of that I've read/ watched a few reviews where people have mentioned the romance gets gross and abusive and so I'd kind of already lost interest completely.

So yeah 38 pages. I'm just not feeling it.

Painful. As in painfully slow.

This book is historical fiction taking place in Russia, which pretty much describes a book I do NOT generally want to read. However, I LOVED THIS BOOK. Just go read it now, nothing I say will do it justice. Easily one of the best books I have read in 2013.

This book was good but wow it could have been at least 300 pages shorter, so much of it felt like a drag but overall I enjoyed the storyline. 3.5 stars ⭐️

This book was sooo long. Took me a while to get through, but I really loved this. I’m all for a WW2 historical fiction with a mix of romance. I have seen the controversy surrounding this book and while I get what people are getting at, it doesn’t change from what this story is. Which is a beautiful story about survival and struggle in such a hard time in history. I could feel the hurt and the hunger Tatiana was feeling throughout this whole book. The author did a great job with her descriptive writing. I love Tatiana and Alexander so much and I will be reading on in the series!
