This was an enjoyable story. That had suspense, tension and a big twist; that left me on the edge of my seat. Not to mention a killer who was seriously twisted and clever, and one who really gave the FBI and the two survivors Lei and Emma a run for their money.

Yet, I did feel the romance in this story got forgotten and seemed more of an afterthought than anything. But as suspense stories go, this had lots to like. And I would, definitely read more from this series in the future.

I would also happily recommend The Surviving Girls to others.

The surviving girls is a scary and intense read. A boyfriend who turns out to be a serial killer is is something out of a worst nightmare. The writing really let me feel all the things Lei and Emma were feeling. I don’t really get scared that easily but I was reading this in the middle of the night and at one point I had to check if I closed all the windows. The plot kept me engaged but the pacing was a bit off. There was this long built up to the climax which lasted only 20 pages. And again like the previous book there were some open plot points that weren’t resolved.

The romance could’ve been better. I just don’t like insta love. And it especially didn’t work here because Lei doesn’t trust anyone. But I liked that we got an extra chapter after the resolution. This was something I really missed in the previous books of the series.

3.5 stars. I really enjoyed this mystery/thriller read! They classify it has romantic suspense, but it’s very light on the romance. I’ll Definitely read the other books in the series.

I liked the series but I'm confused why no smut in the third book??? Let down.

In the end I have two questions: 1) how are all these very capable and competent agents getting kidnapped in every book? 2) how tall ARE these men???
