Though I’m still not of a mind that has the capacity to fully conceive what this book has to offer, I can say, her prose is exceptionally written. The way she strings together words is beautiful, unnecessary, as most beautiful things are, but beautiful none the less. I imagine I will read this book many more times in my lifetime, as to me, the story itself is not the point, but the words themselves you take into your own life. Her goal was to humanize, and she has the reader questioning their own humanity.

Pretty good book. Not Lispector's best, in my opinion, but that's a high standard. This novel questioned the foundational possibility of love in a way I don't think any other book has. Lots to think about. The main problem of the book was that there was just some guy there though. Why does Lóri care so much about this weirdo loser man who's a 2 at best???

this book is really more than just a love story between two people. it's a love story between god, humanity, and identity. what a journey. every clarice lispector book reminds me why i want to live in a world that loves the way that she does. that uses words in the same way she does. that does not know truth the way she does not.
i hope this is a book i find myself re reading years later. i notice a crack in my bookshelf and pick up this book i once loved so much. it will maybe be a time in my life where i'm lost, uncertain, unclear. and i'll pick up this book and i will know what i felt. there's a feeling in me that knows that this book may just always bring me something. there's an ocean of that beauty in this book and losing it would feel like losing some reason. so, i hope i find this book when i will find myself needing it.
