Really enjoyed this! Some parts dragged a bit, but overall loved the story and especially the characters.

Can I give this man and this book a standing ovation or something because I am BLOWN AWAY by this book! The writing was beyond spectacular, unlike any other I’ve read. Dan Simmons wrote these characters so realistically and I grew to care for them as if I were a part of the friend group. This book had me bawling, screaming, smiling, feeling all the feelings! While it was gruesome in its nature, it was also, weirdly, a beautiful coming-of-age story for this group of teenagers. The horror elements were so chilling that I had nightmares about this! Full on, waking up screaming and drenched in sweat type of nightmares! Dan was not afraid to kill off characters, or animals, so check your trigger warnings. Page 242 will haunt my dreams forever, iykyk. If you liked IT by Stephen King or are a fan of Stranger Things, this is the book for you. This is a horror book that will go down in time as a classic of the genre. This deserves all the praise and more! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really liked this one, though I wasn't too crazy about the ending. It was a really entertaining read and was extremely creepy in parts too. Perfect book for spring/summer reading

If you liked Stephen King's It, you'll almost certainly like this.
This was my first Dan Simmons and I will definitely be reading more. He has a fantastic descriptive writing style so well suited to this novel. You can practically smell the warm summer days and feel the heat.
He drops you right in the middle of a 1960s American town which feels like you could walk right into it so descriptive is the author.
Simmons pulls no punches, this is very dark and a midway plot point had me shocked. I can't say I liked all the boys in the group but some I was fully invested in.
This is a chunkster of a book but well worth your time if you're a horror fan.
