I didn’t know this book was a book 2. This is precisely why I avoid reading out of order because I felt like I was missing a lot of information.

In this book, Austin moved to Kansas City to reconnect with his best friend and adolescent Crush Todd. He moves in with his flamboyantly gay uncle Bodie (my favorite character in this book). The relationship between Austin and his uncle paved the way for Austin to have a sense of peace as a gay young man.

Austin enlists the aid of his Uncle Brodie’s neighbor Guy, to help him find Todd so Austin can win Todd’s love. The only problem is that Guy has a crush on Austin, so it’s not just an acting job for Guy. So we have a strange little love triangle with everyone wanting the one out of reach.

My main issue with this audiobook was the narrator didn't engage me and the story was slow. I never connected with the characters and I just couldn't figure out how Austin blew up his non-relationship with Todd so much that he almost missed out on love with Guy. Either way, it was too slow for my enjoyment.

*Special Thanks to Dreamspinner Press for the audiobook given in exchange for an honest review.

This is a well rounded and very well written story. I would highly recommend this book and the others that tie in with it. If you haven’t read anything by B.G. Thomas before, I would highly recommend reading the stories that include the men that have cameos in this book. Start out with All Alone in a Sea of Romance to meet Jude and Tommy, then Bianca’s Plan will introduce Curtis and Gavin. Lastly, The Boy Who Came in From the Cold will have you meeting a very familiar couple indeed. I am interested to see where Mr. Thomas will take us next. Make sure you come along for the ride.

Another book that I found by chance but didn’t read for more than a year. My regret is not reading it sooner. How should I classify this book? At its core, it’s a gay love story. But it’s also a story about love and loyalty, about family, about friends and about discovery

Our main character is on a quest to find a friend, both he and the friend are from a tiny town and they both end up in Kansas City. The protagonist moves in with his great uncle and through a series of fortuitous accidents meets an ensemble of characters and situations. I’m trying hard to do a spoiler free description and ending up with a sterile description. I can say that I loved the story and found myself wanting to rush through the book to find out what happens. It’s all good, from cover to cover. The bad parts are good, and the good parts are great.

This was the first book by this author that I read. What a treat. I definitely will read more of his stuff. The book has a natural flow, everything is readable and the characters are believable and engaging. There was one scene that was not so believable in the situation, but the characters still were.

This book is a M/M love story. There is some plot appropriate and well done love scenes. Sexy times are sexy. Language was mild. There are some adult situations. Keep in mind that the story revolves around theater and in one of the plays there is some violence. Two major characters die from natural causes.

The ending was perfect, what needed to be wrapped up was wrapped up with ribbon and a bow

Read this book. You won’t be sorry.
