Rounding up. Sometimes a little slow for me, but ultimately a compelling, dark and haunting read. I didn't realize until after I read this that it's part memoir, which now makes a lot of sense. Loads of insight around addiction and the medical world.

I loved this! I had forgotten what it was about when I started to read it - which is how I like to go into a book, I don’t re-read the blurb - and was convinced (until I eventually gave in and looked it up) that I was reading a memoir. I thought I had it all worked out at the end, but I didn’t. I enjoyed the sections about serial killers, interspersed throughout. I would definitely read more by this author and recommend that everyone read this! Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers.

Very enjoyable book for someone working in the medical field. Dark humour but interesting takes on stuff. A different type of thriller

This was something special for a thriller. At the beginning, I kept going back and checking the book blurb because I thought I was reading the wrong book. I wasn’t sure if it was non-fiction, memoir, or fiction. It’s a tale of being a junior Doctor, addiction, and a thriller. I didn’t feel like the author was toying with me in the murder mystery. I was and wasn’t surprised by the identity of the killer. That shows how well drawn the characters were and how well written the story was. Really great book.

The audiobook was read so brilliantly by Greg Miller Burns. Yes, I’m a sucker for a Scottish accent, but his performance was much more than that. Highly recommended on audiobook.

I downloaded this book on a whim and enjoyed it so much more then I anticipated. The dry humor and true crime vignettes sprinkled throughout told the story very well and the plot twist was satisfying.
