A young girl, sick and tired of her perfectly safe life ventures of to the forest and stumbles upon a brook that speculatively provides eternal life. When Winnie Foster meets a member of the tuck family who shows her how valuable life is, she begins to question everything. She meets the rest of his family and hears about how they are stuck in time; some are grateful while others are not. It is within this family and the man in the yellow suit coming to tear them apart when Winnie learns the true meaning of life and love. She is presented the opportunity to partake in this eternal life with her found family, but can something so good truly last forever ?

This book is timeless and profoundly handles the concept of death. Children and adults alike should read this as a rite of passage.
