i’ve never had the full queer experience as up-close and personal and diverse and inclusive and exploratory and thought-provoking and liberating all at once as i did reading this book of collective queer voices and stories from diff parts of the world. within the four walls of my bed room, ironic as that may be, this was the closest one yet. it lacks in asexual representation tho so -1 star for that but an overall insightful read — i’m all prided out

The author/narrator was so annoying it was distracting. I just found myself hating her and being annoyed by literally everything about her. I hope she doesn't read this because I don't want to be cruel or hurtful but wow it was awful. Some of the stuff was interesting but her point of view and perspective was a little pedantic and conservative and I am not sure who she was writing the book for, I think people she viewed as "less" progressive than herself and she centered anticipated responses or criticisms at times that I found insulting, however she herself was less progressive than I think she knows or would concede and I found myself rolling my eyes at things that were written as revelatory but are actually very common understandings. I feel like she was trying to be funny and relatable and she was neither. Of course it's good and bad for an entire group of people when new stuff is happening. Of course there are conflicted and differing opinions on what progress is for a marginalized group. Not for me. Glad for whatever 58 year old white person this is helpful to.

Queer Intentions is a valuable and informative analysis of the current state of the LGBT+ community across the world and offers a wide range of voices on a variety of important topics, such as the commodification of queer culture, cultural appropriation, the role Black and trans people play in the drag community, and the debate surrounding corporations and pride. I highly recommend this book if you're looking to widen your perspective on the queer community from the very Western-centric view we are often shown.
