I feel like it’s taken me 7 books to get a proper vibe of this series because the books are so short and perhaps because I’ve been reading these expecting them to be doing something different. This was actually the first book in the series I got but being a stickler for reading in order, I had to wait till had read the previous books in the series. With this series, that doesn’t matter. The books and characters are only very loosely linked now and their stories apart from a couple of the early books- have no bearing on one another. I still really get the feeling that there is another set of books featuring Ganton Hills and these characters that we’re supposed to know. Nonetheless these are gangsta erotic romance shorts. In this one; realtor Shay is minding her business struggling not to be about “that life” when she meets Rasheed, a high level drug businessman. She’s doubtful about involving herself in the life until she can get some security that he’s not going to mess her life up. I mean it was okay in that this was ultimately wish fulfillment as Rasheed was willing to take away all her problems and look after her, but it also felt a little transactional around sex to me especially with the initial property purchase.
Moderate: Gun violence
Minor: Domestic abuse
