Qué dolor y qué denso de leer. Una mierda de experiencia pero la forma de escribir pues pffff.

I was unsure about this book due to the themes and like other I forgot that this was a biography as Westover's childhood felt so unreal. But close to the end I realised that the main message for this book is that you can change your beliefs from what you have grown up with and that you can have different beliefs and way of life from family and relationships change which is OK and can lead to success and the sense of you control your life.

Such an amazing read, despite being a memoir on the longer side I felt like I was finished it and soon as I started it 😅

Such a powerful and informative read. TW abuse, sexual harrasment, bodily harm.

This book was so good! I am growing increasingly concerned over some of the similarities between the religious extremism here and the evangelical family in which I was raised, but I really admire Westover’s perseverance. As a person who is also devoted to education, I really loved this book, despite how triggering parts of it could be.
