This was really hard for me to read, but it hit its mark. The story is a tragedy and you know it from the very beginning, while also knowing you will be hurtling toward the inevitable end, and nothing could have ever prevented it. The main character is a girl so powerful and mistreated (that being such an unassuming word for all she endures) who spends so much of her life doubting herself and her place around others. While the person she becomes is morally quite dark and unapologetically so, her radical self acceptance and learning to live with the consequences of a broken life leave something to be admired. She has been a victim of many by the end of the story, both gods and mortals, but blames none more than herself, for better or worse. The final conclusion of the novel brings a small shining light into an otherwise completely dark and miserable story; the idea that no matter how many mistakes and unforgivable things you do in your life, you are still capable of doing something good and worthy.
