Beautifully written. Each story was incredibly unique and interesting. I really enjoyed reading this, although sometimes wanted a little more of a conclusion at the end of each story.

Short stories about different family situations. All involve themes of motherhood, growing up, and cultural aspects. Overall it was an interesting read for class.

We listened to the audiobook on a drive to California and back. Each story captures something of the experience of being Catholic in New Mexico and having life not completely go according to plan. So far so good. Each story also includes a mention or two of body parts or bodily fluids that are perhaps a bit too vivid in their descriptions. Wanted to love this collection, but couldn’t quite get there.
