A timely novel which makes the reader question their place in our modern, technological, world, Green Valley offers a unique comment on society via the use of its fast-paced plot and bold characters. As we begin to take a look at how and why we use technology within every aspect of our lives, Green Valley shows us a potential future: an environment where people have gone one of two ways – either embracing the complete invasion of virtual reality, or rejecting all forms of modern tech entirely. It is an interesting concept that I doubt many have seen discussed before in a, at times gripping, novel like this.

Meh. Also, the Goodreads book description is even wrong. It’s not Lucie’s daughter that is missing, it’s her niece.

An interesting concept with too little story. It meanders along at an easy pace, but in the end I felt nothing really happened.

Really enjoyed this! 1st physical book I've read in a while and it was well worth it. Slow burn but consistently intriguing. Only realised afterwards that the author is South African which is awesome! Great final read of 2021.

An amazing premise
I loved the storyline - it's quite thought provoking. I also appreciated the imagery when writing about Green Valley and the wonderful snippets of language at various interval.
My only problem was the protagonist - I had to take breaks to get over my annoyance of her character and behaviour and finish the book. I'm unsure if the whiny nature of the character was supposed to reflect the result of the Green Valley experience or simply an attempt to write a female character. Either way, it didn't work for me.
