I have to admit, I expected 'The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires' to go in a different direction than it did. It was a pleasant surprise.

Not a huge horror fan but this book did not disappoint. Kept me on the edge of my seat and was thrilling from start to finish. It was also very witty with relatable characters. Pacing was also great! I did have a few nightmares while reading this though lo

Dear God. This was a fun story, but not for the squeamish! There are at least three scenes that, when I listened to this book, actively turned my stomach or made me roll up in fetal position!

If you walk away from this book thinking it’s just a vampire book you’ve missed the point and you’ve missed a treatise on race, poverty, privilege, power, and gender. There’s so much more to this than vampires and it’s a great example of why I love Hendrix’s subversive style.
