I feel pretty similarly about this book that I did about the first book on the series. I do think I liked the dynamic between Ryder and Dakota more than Paisley and Caleb. I loved how she wrote the specials about him and how they’ve loved each other for so long but I didn’t like all the other stuff. Ryders cousin is a police officer like I’m sure he could have figured out a way out of things sooner. Also it felt too staged to have the bad guy be Dakotas baby daddy with the way he came into the cafe and everything. But I did enjoy the book and loved the little family Dakota and Ryder made with her son.

let’s start with the fact that this book had such good tropes in it. i mean, single mom, small town, suspense, mutual pining, brothers best friend? come on, what more could you want. i always love a.l. jackson books. they always have the perfect amount of spice and suspense and plot. i was hooked from the very beginning and had such a good time throughout. i loved ryder and dakota, especially loved her little boy kayden. it was perfect

Ryder is my man
Although the ending was a bit predictable and I saw the twist coming I still really enjoy this book. I did really have posit and digest though because even now I'm not sure would have made the same decision that Dakota made. Although I do see where she way coming from and respect her for protecting herself first. There is a tigger warning that should have been put in the front of this book as a child gets a knife held to them. They are not heart however it was fear inducing none the less.

This is the second book in the series. This book is so good. It was hard to put down. We get Paisley's best friend Dakota's story. We have a case of brother's best friend situation going on. Dakota and Ryder have been crushing on each other for a long time, but the timing was never right for them. You can tell the bond between them especially with her son Kayden is strong. Kayden is a little cutie. There is plenty of heart in this one, but with Ryder's past it brings the suspenseful moments. A great book that captures you.

Small town, best friend’s sister romance. Run of the mill Hallmark movie plot, except MMC has a dark past/secret. It was cute or whatever

this was okay - though i didn’t like the writing style as much, i liked the friends to lovers arc. Kayden was the sweetest part of this book and i liked Dakota’s character / Ryder’s character individually. together they worked but i think because the writing felt so choppy and almost as if it was trying it’s hardest to be poetic but it came across as just hard to understand, i just couldn’t connect with these characters.
i don’t think i’ll read the rest of the series - maybe another time? it was fun whilst it lasted but idk, this wasn’t for me.
there were elements i liked. but it just confused me
also why’s he calling her Cookie during sex that’s actually killing me off

Holy emotional roller-coaster! This book is completely unputdownable with the angst and pain, secrets and pining, all the love and steam. Pure perfection!
I love Ms Jackson’s writing style! I could feel the pain and the love through the pages. The suspense was sprinkled in so well and the twist toward the end? Amazing! Overall, this book is jaw dropping and just an absolute thrill to read!
Ryder has been through so much and continues to pay for a bad decision he made when he was at a low point in life. He definitely redeems himself. I love how he has always made sure that Dakota knew her worth and how beautiful she was. He tried so hard to stay away from her because of what he's involved in, not wanting to taint her with his darkness or bring her danger. Dakota is an amazing single mother to the cutest little boy, Kayden. She runs a cafe/shop and brings joy to everyone in town. Her and Ryder have loved each other since they were young. I just loved their relationship and getting little glimpses into their pasts.
When these two finally get together, it's pure fire. They go through so much to get to their HEA and I think it just made them stronger. The way they love one another is beautiful. I love how Ryder is with Kayden. He truly is that boys father. Their little family moments melted my heart!
Be ready to swoon, fan yourself, and be on the edge of your seat!
