Though I feel very connected to this book, there are places where it fell a little flat for me. Throughout the book, it feels like there are moments where it struggles to decide whether to focus on the plot and how the characters are going to try and survive the end of the world or focus on Avery's character and use the end of the world as a device for her growth and development. I didn't really care for the plot itself, and felt as if the book was dragging in scenes where the author was less focused on Avery and more focused of the plot. Despite that, I felt really connected to the book and to Avery's story. It's rare that I feel so seen by a story :)
