If I could figure out what actually happened in this book, I'd definitely give it a higher rating...but I did enjoy the ride!

This just felt so flat compared to the first book. So flat and long winded for the spec of plot that actually happened.
And the characters!! Miss Blake what on EARTHHH did you assassinate every good thing about your characters in this for?! I hated all of them. The way these characters interacted with each other was so god damn boring and frustrating and it forced me to put this book down time and time again just to make it through.
These people are all sharing an experience. They’re living together, researching together and whatever else, and none of them like each other? But at the same time they all seem to be kissing or fucking each other?
Also…was every character in this book bisexual? That’s fine, don’t get me wrong, but it all came out of absolutely nowhere. Nico is in love with Libby (maybe), lusting after Parisa and kissing Gideon. Tristan slept with Parisa, had a thing with Callum but was in love with Libby? Reina…fancied Parisa but was in love with Nico? Libby with Ezra but in her weird thing with Nico, sleeping with Tristan and then kissing Belen? WHAT?? Is anyone else confused? These are all people who couldn’t stand each other throughout the majority of the book, by the way.
Compared to book one, this had about 95% academic waffling and 5% plot, and of that 5%, I just wasn’t interested really. I wanted to see what the outcome would be with Libby which was the only reason I finished this. I didn’t care about any of the characters beyond that.
Not sure if I’ll be reading book three but this was just so painful compared to book 1. What a disappointment.
