So many questions answered that were building in intensity in the previous two books. Delightful mystery and cat of characters!

Inspector Gamache's facing a conspiracy against him was more gripping than the murder investigation. I appreciated the references to [b:Sarah Binks|348887|Sarah Binks|Paul Hiebert|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1320410379s/348887.jpg|339164]. It brought back fond memories of John Cross reciting her poems to me.

This was another delightful trip to Three Pines, with the added bonus of a look at the intrigue inside the Surete du Quebec. As with the two previous Gamache books that I've read, it kept me engaged and even made me laugh at times, and I always know I'm reading a well-written murder mystery when I can't figure out who the murderer is until it's revealed.

I think this was the best one yet. The writing is better. I still don't love the characters, but am glad the younger female agent gets some redemption in this one.
