Strong Poison is a good mystery that introduces Harriet Vane, Lord Peter Wimsey’s great love. The mystery was well-plotted more for how it was done rather than who did it. Personally, I enjoyed the appearance of The Cattery the most, especially Miss Murchison. I liked her very much and am a little sad to learn she does not appear in any further books. The book is definitely of its time with references to people and things that I didn’t know, and also *sigh* in its casual racism and misogyny. There wasn’t very much of it, but it was glaring when it was there. If it weren’t for that, it would easily be a five star mystery.

I'd never read any Dorothy L. Sayers but I thought I should try one, considering how much I like Agatha Christie. It turned out to be really fun time and I think I'll read another in the future. It was much funnier than I was expecting and while I can't say I became very attached to Lord Peter, he was an entertaining character. I also enjoyed all the women who helped solve the mystery and the plot itself was pretty intriguing.

Picked this one up on a whim in the library. Love the way that the Lord Detective goes to interview the young woman on trial for murder and then spends the entire time pressuring her to marry him (provided of course, that he manages to save her from the hangman’s noose). Great start to a relationship!
