Enchanting tale framed by very insightful perspectives on different religions. Leaves a lasting impression as a unique and unforgettable book. The marine life are fairy tale-like in their description- as may be the entire narrative, depending on the reader's opinion of course.

I loved the second section of this book. There is no doubt that the story is fantastic. I even enjoyed the first section that I know some people didn't find necessary. It worked well and really set up the story.
The ending I found problematic and it sort of ruined the rest of the book for me. I got what it was trying to do. It could have added an extra dimension to the story and for some people it probably does but in all honesty I would have preferred it just to be a story about a boy and a tiger on a boat however unbelievable.

I'll start off by saying this was a book I read for English class. Most books for assigned reading are hard to catch my interest in particular but this was at least bearable.
As for the book itself it was ok. I think at times there was a lot of over explaining and boring detail. On the topic of detailed wording I think there was also some rather gory detail added but I'm thinking it just contributed to the overall tone.
I think for me personally the book was a bit underwhelming because I some what predicted the ending right as we started reading this book for class.
Where my review of the book may not be so positive I think the ending was rather beautiful. The message of perception and how we choose to interpret things, the way lies and stories incoperate themselves into our everyday lives and their ability to sway our views and change how we think. That aspect alone gave the book an extra star in my opinion.
Hoping there's some sort of interpretive essay assignment so I can continue my rant<3

The beginning of the novel opens on an interesting discussion of many different religions which I found to be very interesting and informative. I had to read this book for sophomore English and genuinely looked forward to reading and discussing it in class which says a lot.

Very good, I just wish it didn’t take half of the book to actually get into the plot but after that it was great. I enjoyed the characters and the twist was fun the pacing was just off

Very thought provoking - parts were fascinating and creative while other parts were boring and seemed to drag on. Initially I was not enjoying the story, however as the story went on I was sucked in. I didn't completely love it but I am glad I read it.

hmm.. not sure how to feel about this. the ending, aka the moment it is finally revealed what this big metaphor is all about, sure is surprising and grand and satisfying but.. it just annoyed me that I had to wait so long for something satisfying to finally happen in this book. because the rest of it isn't, at all. many lines I just skipped because they were uninteresting, useless, super detailed descriptions of life on the boat.. I read most of it so quickly because I just wanted to be over with it. so, even though the ending was really good and I enjoyed it, I can't bring myself to give a high rating to this book. I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone. nor would I ever want to read it again. also, the very gore descriptions of animal brutality were too much. but overall, this wasn't what I expected at all.
