Listen, this book is compared to THE LAST MRS. PARRISH, and there are even claims that the stories are practically identical. However, I tried reading THE LAST MRS. PARRISH before reading this and couldn't get through it, DNFing it at around 30ish pages. I didn't know going in that Liv Constantine is the pen name of two authors, but it is very apparent in the writing. I just couldn't get through it and I think author duos are not my thing. This was a great alternative. I know I'm late to the game, but if you haven't picked this one up yet, I highly recommend! I can't wait to read more of Freida McFadden's backlist!
THE BAD: Nina was infuriating until the last 10 chapters or so, when her motives became clear and then she became a little more bearable. 😂
Graphic: Murder
Moderate: Infertility, Death of parent, Drug abuse, Domestic abuse, and Rape

• This was such a fast-paced, entertaining, and twisty thriller that had me hooked from the first line! I was dying to know who died at the beginning, which isn’t revealed until the very end, and I couldn’t put it down because I just HAD to
• I truly felt like I was losing my mind while reading this because I just didn’t know who or what to believe and I really felt for Millie for having to go through everything.
• I liked the smaller twists that were sprinkled throughout the book but the big twist at the end was absolutely insane!! I definitely get the hype now because I was just so taken aback by it and I felt like I had to take some time to process it. But even though it was so shocking, there was a small part of it that was unbelievable. Like everything worked out in the favor of one character and it was a bit too convenient.
• I loved pretty much everything about this book except for one thing. And that’s how painfully similar it was to The Turn of The Key by Ruth Ware. I really didn’t like that book but it had so many similarities to this book that it kind of ruined the reading experience for me. In both books we have a housemaid/nanny with a mysterious & dark past that goes to work for a rich family that’s driving her crazy. There’s an insufferable housewife and a child that may or may not be the devil’s spawn. There’s also the gardener and the town secrets…etc. It was just way too similar that I started confusing the two books even though I read The Turn of The Key 9 months ago.
• Other than that, I’d highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to read more by this author!
