Thoughts:
SpoilerSlight plot holes - what happened to Juno in the epilogue and why wasn't there any more mentions of Stella's kinda-ex- boyfriend but these are my only 2 not-even-criticisms so it's a massive win from me!

I liked the way Mason changed from a man with demons to a man who could laugh--all because of Stella's deliberate efforts the second time around.

Interesting POV switch. Well done.
Mace’s story was tough.

Epilogue was fun to read. 5 years later.
Spoiler about Ally and Hector.

My heart really hurt for Kai. His backstory... I knew a little from the previous book with Jet but holy hell. This stung. I also liked watching the connection between Stella and him grow again.

I enjoyed the chapters from previous characters occasionally thrown in here also. Pretty huge epilogue that gave away some information of the future but not all the details. I'm still intrigued. I'm really needing Ally's story.

"I can't be the star in your sky when you're the only star left shining in mine."

Overall, this may be my favorite of the series! Mace has such an emotional and complex story. While there is still tons of RC humor, this book had more sad undertones of love and grief. I loved the additional POVs by previous characters. I especially love moments with Hank and Roxie; Hank will always my favorite of the Hot Bunch.

I can't wait for Hector's story, but I am trying to prepare myself for the ending of this series. I have fallen in complete love with this series!

Reread 2021:
This is my second favorite Rock Chick book (the first is, of course, Lee and Indy's book). Mainly because Lee and Indy's wedding happened here and I cried so bad when Stella and the Gypsies sang "You're Still The One" by Shania Twain at the reception.

The main thing that stuck with me about this book is that this is emotionally heavier than the others, what with both Stella and Mace having demons from their past. They took turns in pushing the other away because of their issues (I still haven't forgiven Mace for breaking up with Stella as a test). That's why I'm really happy they were able to work it out in the end.

A few things I dislike about KA's writing though:
• the men are all so used to bulldozing over the women to get what they want and they get physical about it, throwing the women around (if the woman asks for fucking space then give her some goddamn space)
• they're also rude (interrupting someone while talking is such a hot button for me and these guys do this ALL THE FREAKING TIME)
• they somehow lose their verbs a lot of times (srsly, like "Me, Tarzan. You, Jane" vibes) and I find it annoying

Also not happy with the Rock Chick's having a backup Hot Bunch guy (especially Lee being Ava's. Lee is mine, I just let Indy borrow him from time to time).

It's a good thing a lot of the characters are hilarious and I love that it's like one gihugic extended family which keeps this series entertaining.

It’s kind of rinse and repeat at this point in the series but still, I eat it up. Every. Damn. Time.
