My all time favorite science fiction work. I never thought that sequels, even in a trilogy, could be better than the opening book. The trilogy, while being creative and mindblowing, gets better with each book. Allthough names, details and a few events are a bit cheesy and odd at times, the historic setting, imaginative technology and cosmic sociology makes up for it.

I really liked the first book - felt original, lots of interesting science. The second and third had more of the same, but I started to get more turned off by how flat all the characters felt.
