Brubaker/Phillips have a symbiotic collaboration, typified by this excellent pair of tales. It's a standalone volume, and it's extremely well done, so you have no excuse not to pick it up.

Another random graphic novel I didn't realise when I picked it up that it was volume 7 but it was an interesting mix of comics and real-life criminal enterprise. Vengeance is a strong point in this. I'm a bit curious about what the rest of the series is like.
