this was brilliant.
this modern take on the greek gods kind of felt like a steamier novel version of the webcomic lore olympus.

the relationship between hades and persephone is amazing and i love their dynamic so much.
the heated scenes were great and well written and there wasn’t too little or too many of them.

i really liked the other character relationships and how the other gods were presented.

i LOVE the descriptions of the underworld and how it shows that the people want persephone to be their queen.
also persephone exploring her powers at the end against adonis and minthe. we love to see it.

can’t wait to continue this series and see where it goes <3

i love retellings ESPECIALLY PERSEPHONE AND HADES... i love how upperworld takes place in a more modern setting along with the fact that i also didn’t expect this to have smut for some reason??? but i’m glad it did ..THE COLLAPSE.. i enjoyed this a lot and i hope the second one is good as well

Finished another one that has sat on the TBR for some time now, and I'm overall happy with the experience. A Touch of Darkness was sexy, angsty, and just all around an enjoyable read. As for SUBSTANCE? Nah, there really wasn't much. It pulled on well known Greek myth regarding Hades, Persephone, Demeter, Hermes, and the other gods, lesser gods, and mythical creatures, like nymphs, ogres, and cyclops.

Did I go into this expecting more than just the angsty relationship between Hades and Persephone? Not really. And I'm glad I didn't, because I'd be sorely disappointed. The on page spice was done well for the most part, but there were a few cringe bits that I couldn't ignore. Certain descriptors that were just - a lot. I'm not a prude by any stretch of the imagination, but using words like "impaled" was...a choice. Lol.

Anyway, I'm probably not going to continue the series. This one was fine, but I don't feel particularly drawn to continue the story, especially because this one ended on such a good note.

The writing was so bad, I almost gave up halfway through the book but still somehow read full - it didn't change anything as the story was not that great...will give a chance to the second book but if that disappoints me like this one then I am out of this series

I don’t know what to say other than I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK?!? I was hooked from the start and I was so scared that it might disappoint me at the end because the first half of the book was just PERFECTION (and I was like: “wait this perfection can’t continue, authors never let us have what we want”), but it didn’t stop (?!?) THANK U SCARLETT ST. CLAIR for this serve. I’m so excited to read the second book. I hope it’ll not disappoint me because wow. I’m still shook this is was so good.
