I'm torn between giving 3.5 (nope) or 4(+?) stars... I changed my mind: 4+ stars it is.
First of all: the turn of events has been really really stressing me out, a lot.
It has been so frustrating.

I need to sleep right now, I'll report back tomorrow.

Ok, I'm ready maybe.
It's been two days; I think my rating might've been biased... I just wish and need them all to be happy and safe.
However I am coming to terms with the fact that the hardship and turmoil occurring in this book not only do make sense, but also honour the complicated painful pasts of these characters. Of course they have still lots of emotions and traumas to unpack, lots of [firstly individual] healing work to do. And I love how realistic it is that all of that doesn't simply disappear.

Our knowledge of this world, the Reestablishment and the families of the other supreme commanders, has been nicely expanded! I'm intrigued to learn more.

The book also discusses or touches on utterly important issues like racism, gun violence, transphobia, mental health, childhood abuse,...

Actual rating: 3.5 Stars! I’m slightly mad at myself for not writing this review earlier, as I feel all the books have kind of blurred together at this point. I do remember that this book felt like a strong connector book for me. Not much plot progression happened, but it helped to wrap up questions from the previous book and setup where the rest of the series was headed. Overall, it was definitely necessary and had some key world-building, but is definitely my least favourite of the series.

Bruh, that cliffhanger was nuts and it made up for the repetitive self-deprecating inner monologue that we kept having to endure. Buuuut I still need to know what happens next I still love Warner and Kenji and I’m fully invested in this series and it’s just a guilty pleasure at this point.
