“Loneliness is a bitter, wretched companion. Sometimes it just won't let go”

WOAH. This book felt really different to the first three. The extended metaphors persist, unfortunately... But this book had so many twists and turns, so many things happening that I was just... shocked. Firstly, this book is dual POV, which is different, and a bit jarring. Secondly,
who decided to leave a 17-year-old in charge of the country?? It should have been Warner from the start. Speaking of Warner, I actually liked the addition of his POV in this book. He's got a lot going on.
The ending was also crazy. I can't believe this series initially only had three books.

I was scared to pick this up in case it ruins the first trilogy but I’m surprised it just got even better. The story expands and the characters are even more three-dimensional now than in the first books.

Honestly, part of me felt Juliette in Ignite Me to be a little over-the-top, how I feel she was too in over her head and how things just somehow worked out for her, but I forgave it because please, I just wanted be happy. But now, getting to see where her decisions have led her, the reality of it all dawning on her and seeing where she’s gonna take herself—beautiful.

This book is more tense and jampacked than the first books combined! I found myself feeling feelings, getting anxiety even during moments I’m not actually reading because I’m just so stressed about what might happen next. There’s still so much to uncover!

I think my favorite part is how things didn’t turn out the way they did merely for the story to continue—how the plot didn’t take a turn just so the author could milk the story some more. Everything unfolded as a response to their own decisions and it was just so beautifully done that it’s no wonder the series is still a big deal to this day.

this was wild. the plot twists just kept on coming. i feel exhausted (in the best way). i also loved the way we got warner’s perspective too.
