Read it on the recommendation of a teenager - I did feel like it lived up to the expectation! Tells three harrowing stories of the young refugee experience in a way that I hope bursts hardened hearts open and inspires folks to get out and support displaced persons.

Reading this while there is a current genocide happening was extremely difficult. History has constantly repeated and yet we never learn. I think this was beautifully written. It tore at your soul because all you wanted to do was reach in the pages and hug these children. Get them out of the horrible situations each one was going through. I truly believe everyone should read this. Especially now.

I found the book very dark at times. I enjoyed the author. I liked the way each chapter had a good cliff hanger. There are extremely sad moments in the story.
