Audiobook. Very cute story! I loved seeing Heidi’s joy and sincerity affect the people around her. Such a special relationship between her and her grandfather. I loved all of the friendships she made along the way.

Super cute and very satisfying, especially if you have visited Switzerland. I loved reading all the descriptions of the mountains and mountain life of that time - a stark contrast to the busy and affluent life of Switzerland today.

Really cute, it reminded me a lot of the Secret garden.

Loved the atmosphere and setting of this book. The writing was enjoyable and humorous at times. I really had a great time reading the first half of the book. The second half is what ended up dropping it down to a 3 star for me (would have been a 5 star based on the first half). In the second half several things got under my skin a little. First was the religious undertones and the idea that if you just have faith everything will be alright. I am not against religion, but it came across a little niave and unrealistic to me. Next is Peter. I really disliked his character in the second half. I can understand  the jealousy, but not how he had no consequences for his actions. He is even rewarded! Though there was a good lesson about not owning up when you do something wrong. Last is Clara and the views on her being an invalid and disabled. The idea that you can't be happy if your disabled is frustrating. That part of the story definitely didn't age well. I would have enjoyed the end of the book more if both Peter and Clara's story arc had been handled differently. Still a really light and fun read. Definitely worth it.

A classic.

I saved this one to start on vacation when my family was here and we were staying in Switzerland. It was fitting that by the time I got to the part when Heidi has to go to Frankfurt, we were also returning to my home in Frankfurt.

My favorite part of the story is when Uncle Alp finds his faith again through the moving story of the prodigal son read to him by a child. It brought tears to my eyes as I read it on the bus.

A book that makes me happy? Heidi! I had no idea one of my favourite TV series was a book, I found out some months ago and finally read it (well, listened to it, the beginning of the narration was not as I expected, but it got better in minutes)!

A girl from the wild, true and free, having the power to make people feel happy and easy. I guess I'll have Heidi in the background while I doing errands for some time. ;D
