I said this about the last book too, but this is now my favourite in the series (at this moment).

Some really funny scenes in this book, along with my favourite scene of all probably. To avoid spoilers I won't name it, but it's something that happens near the end, wink wink. Just like the previous installments, the story was easy to follow, fairy fast paced and action-packed. Mull added as to the story and facts whilst still keeping some things in the dark.

Seth is still treated like a kid, it got to the point where it was annoying me a little with how repetitive it was getting. However, by the end I think they loosed their strict hold on him. Seth and Kendra are a bit boring as characters in retrospect. Kendra ia a girl. Finds things scary and gross. Likes the idea of unicorns and faries. Seth is a typical boy. Teases his sister for being girly. Reckless and brave. Thinks dark creatures are cool. Some readers might struggle to connect to them due to this, although it didn't bother me hugely. Given the circumstances, their personalities link in with more interesting events and results, making them less boring overall. I dare say that they were given 'stock-image' personalities on purpose.

I'm excited to conclude the series with the next book, as well as finish my reread - before I eventually start reading the Dragonwatch series. Rereading these has likely been the best prep for it, although I didn't realise another Fablehaven series existed until I was rereading the third book.

Loved the dragon sanctuary. Good twist in the story. Only issue I had was the end was a little rushed. Can't wait for the next one.

This was the best book of the series so far. I actually enjoyed reading it instead of slogging through it.

The one problem I'm seeing is there is not a lot of character growth. I see Mull trying to flesh out Seth, but in the end, he is the same old character.

There was lots of action. This book just jumped right into the story, which was great. Didn't have to wait around for things to begin. I'm curious as to how they will handle putting Kendra back into her life after all she has been through.

I'm looking forward to the fifth book. Ready to complete the series.
