This book is beautiful and the stories are really fun to read. I liked the overarching narrative themes and it was a fun way to reinterpret the idea of the 100 nights. Sexism definitely reads like the ultimate villain in this, which I fully agree with. I do think that it got a bit ridiculous or cartoony at points and this focus sacrificed the larger narrative often. Character development and believability became secondary to this central theme, which was valid and appropriate (likely the purpose of the book) but it wasn't what I was looking for.

On first read in 2018: 4.5 stars! I loved this. The themes of womanhood and storytelling were excellent. My only quibble was that I didn't feel much emotional investment in the actual characters. The story itself though was fantastic.

2023 reread overall rating: 4.5 stars
