I read this book and I have always liked the spirit and the beauty of Ava Gardner. This is a close unguarded view of her. It is very well done altho Peter Evans was not able to get closure since Ava prodded by Frank Sinatra refused to do this book. Frank gave her the money she would have made from the book to stop it. In the past he sued Peter Evans for a remark that was made on TV about the connection between Frank and the Mafia. People like Frank never let go never forgive. He could not allow this book to be published cause he knew Peter Evans would tell the truth.
... to be continued...

I'm a little disappointed in this book. Although I did enjoy what is there, it is an unfinished book. The style threw me a bit, as it is not written as a true autobiography but rather how the author/ghostwriter worked w Ava - while that was interesting, it was distracting at times. The book has a lot of great stories of Ava's life, but only shares a few parts of her relationships with GCS & Sinatra. After reading the details of her other relationships, it is disappointing that we aren't treated to that with her later life. It's almost a cliffhanger...but there's no second book coming. It explains why that happens, but I didn't expect it to stop as cold as it did, so I'm a bit annoyed.

So fascinating to hear about Ava Gardner, I knew practically nothing, so it was super exciting. I've always been curious about that time period and it was great to hear it from a perspective like hers.

Though Ava's back and forth was tiring at times, it definitely brought the legend of Ava to life. It was interesting to read about her life and I found myself laughing at loud of several of her comments to Peter Evans. Overall, this is a great book, not really a completed biography, but rather the retelling of authoring an almost-biography that paints a bright picture of who Ava was.
