I watched the series on Netflix first, and reading the book was definitely quite a shock. The plot is very different and was less detailed than expecting. Not a huge fan of the first half, but enjoyed the vibes. And then I really liked the second half and the ending was great. But now I must immediately know what Nathan’s gift is, so I will indeed be reading the sequel.

I really don't need or want to read about a teenage boy being tortured while waxing poetic about his deadbeat dad. One I might've been able to deal with, but both is just too much. I've read the plot synopsis for this and the two other books and tbh I don't think I'll get much out of finishing this book or reading the other two.
