Talk about swoon factor!

Center of Gravity is So You Think You Can Dance, American Idol, and romance all packaged in this gorgeous book. Whether you dance at home in front of the mirror shaking your butt or you take lessons at a studio, this book will have you balancing on your toes and twerking in happiness.

As one of those people that thinks they can dance but probably shouldn't publicly, I loved that I felt like I was a piece of the action. K.K. Allen wrote in a way that makes you feel like one of the Ravens watching it all play out. I loved being a part of the nerve wracking auditions, part of the belly flipping arguments, and part of the epic wins and terrible losses.

If I only my center was as amazing as Lex's....

4 they gravitated towards each other stars!!

As a former dancer, raising a dancer this book immediately drew my attention. I was excited to read a book about dancers in their atmosphere and see how the author brought everything about. This author even included interactive links in her book to bring it more to life and I LOVED that. Even if you know nothing about dance you will not be left behind in this book.

I don’t know why but every time I pictured Theo I pictured Travis Wall even though I haven’t ever seen him do any kind of hip hop style. Theo is obviously hardened by the industry, which I mean who wouldn’t be you have to have a tough skin to work in it. He unfortunately takes it out on everyone around him. Some things in his life have taken the spark out of his dancing life but that may change. I personally did not like some of the choices he did make in this book, but it showed he was human and need to evolve and change. The fact that he decides to put someone else well being ahead of his own shows that he might just be ready to do that emotional leap. It was nice how he respected Lex’s space when she asked for it while dancing and didn’t push.

Lex was a really sweet and wholesome which was nice. Her best friend Shane was also really amazing and I adored him. I didn’t understand how Lex grew up in a dance world but didn’t have any backbone concerning competing at all. Some dancers and choreographers can be unfairly cruel and since Lex had been dancing almost all of her life she should be used to this part already. I liked how she didn’t know exactly how good she was, I have met plenty of dancers that didn’t know quite how good they were naturally. I feel like maybe she was a mix of the movie Honey with Jessica Alba and Julia Stiles from Save the Last Dance.

This book was a little long, however making choreography and setting up for a tour takes time so I can see why the author would want this to span over time. I really enjoyed so much about this book, the angst was really good and so was the romance. I can see some typical tropes in it but that is okay with me, I like tropes.

When Lex world is now part of Theo's world, you think she would be excited. Except, her idol ends up being a jerk. Or so she thought. Lex is just trying to make her dream come true. Theo is trying to stay away from Lex. They both have struggles and troubled passed, but not in a way you would think. They try to overcome they obstacles. The development between Theo and Lex is awesome. The chemistry is to die for.

This book is so unlike K.K.'s other books, but it one of my favorites. The characters left real. The story speaks to your heart. Not only will you love the main characters but the supporting characters are awesome as well. Hopefully we see more of them

3.5 stars. It took me a bit to get into this book but once I did, I enjoyed it. I couldn’t stop picturing Theo as Artem Chigvintsev so that made it even better. I also liked how the author included links to YouTube videos of choreography for certain songs. I liked being able to actually see the dances that the characters were supposed to be doing. I feel like I need to read more dance romances now.

Oh my goodness! Lex and Theo's romance is a deliciously sexy and angsty slow burn that had me so invested in their story that I was glued to my Kindle. K.K. Allen's writing is so exquisite and captivating. There were several moments where I had to set my Kindle down and just fan-girl for a minute before jumping back in.

description

I will admit that going into this book, I was a little worried about connecting with the dance scenes and their emotion because it is so different than watching them in a movie or TV show. All of my curiosity and worry and expectations were needless and blown away by K.K. Allen's writing. Her words alone made me feel like I had a front row seat to every dance number in Center of Gravity and the emotion from the dancers poured off of the pages. The way she made this story interactive for readers is GENIUS! It really brought the dancing to life and was a pleasant bonus to K.K. Allen's writing.

The characters and emotions in COG are the main reason why it is not only my new favorite K.K. Allen book, but it is also my current top read of 2018!

Theo and Lex have a romance that has to battle the storm. Both characters have a complicated backstory that has followed them through to their adult life and become hurdles they need to overcome. Thankfully they manage to help each other.

K.K. Allen has managed to bring dance to romance and make it uncringey. She's written a lyrical romance with emotions brought out through movement and body language, with heated glances and purposeful touches. I enjoyed the casting and tour storyline with Theo and Lex, this really added to their relationship arc. Throw in the side characters who all became paramount to the plot and I was really intrigued with the story.

I'm invested and now need to follow the next set of characters.

This is another amazing book by this author.
"I wasn't capable of seeing you then. Not the way I do now."
"How do you see me now?"
"As the centre of everything."
These characters lex and theo stole my heart and gave me the biggest book hangover ever.
"If I could rewrite the rules, I'd do it for you."
This book was 5 amazing stars

This was my first K.K. Allan book and it most certainly won’t be my last. Theo and Lex’s story was hard to put down I loved it so much! The dancer/choreographer trope sucked me in from the beginning and their chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS. I also loved that she included links to the dances she envisioned while writing. I’ve never experienced something like this and it was amazing!! 5 stars all the way, I highly recommend this to any steamy romance lover!
