I will admit, I completely forgot I had this book but I'm so glad I picked it back up.

First of all - historical....I'm in. I loved the fact that Longshore took the story of Catherine Howard and dove into the detail behind how she thought things happened.

Cat drove me crazy - she was so selfish and everything was about what she wanted and how she could get it. Kitty drove me crazy too but in the completely opposite direction - she always gave in to whatever Cat wanted. I loved seeing the relationship develop with William and Kitty and it made me so sad to read the end of the book with no follow up to what happened with him after he left his position with the Duke.
SpoilerIn my mind Kitty heads over to Cheapside and finds him/his family house and they end up together. :)

In a time where dystopians rule the literary court, Katherine Longshore reminds readers that our history is filled with excitement, drama and titillating romance if only we take a glance at our past. As an avid Tudor enthusiast, I know how this story ends. But Katherine manages to retell the tale of my least favorite of Henry VIII's six wives in such a unique and captivating way, it usurped my attention and seized my mind. It's a royal read for those with a love of the romanticized era and those who never gave the time period a thought outside of European history class.

Imagine my giddy delight when I found out it's merely the first book in a saga following three girls in King Henry VIII's court. I found my new favorite series.

My whole review can be found here.

I honestly liked nothing about this. Kitty was an idiot. Cat was a bitch. William was the only okay thing and he was stupid enough to fall in love with a spineless idiot. And they don’t even end up together. This book was depressing.

After a long hiatus of not reading books for at least a year or so, I came back and dug out the bin of to-read books I had stockpiled.

Gonna say this is one of my more favorite tales of the Tudor timeline. Told from the eyes of a very unknown person to history, it was a beautiful jump back in the timelines to a point of history I can read about for days and days and days.

Though I didn't like yet another love triangle going on, the way people were courted and women were (not) respected in that time really was very well done, and reflected the truth as we know.

I liked it. :D

the story of catherine howard (wife #5 to henry the 8th) as told by her best friend, kitty, who gets pulled into a dramatic and dangerous life at the palace.
an enjoyable read, but nothing to get super excited about.

complete tangent: women at this time were essentially property, and the michigan legislation seems to be doing its best to bring us back to this point. i look forward to being beheaded for my refusal to produce an heir.

This was an enjoyable story that followed Kitty Tylney, a lady to the ill-fated Catherine Howard (5th wife to Henry VIII). The story lagged in a few places; but had all of the intrigue, sex, and lies that a story set in the Tudor court requires.

Pretty good book, held my attention and I had to finish reading it. However, there are a few things I did not like about this. The language (Dialogue between characters) switches from what you would expect to modern English a lot. It irked me. Also, I felt like everything was skimming the surface. That there was a whole lot of story to get through, yet it didn't delve very far into what type of people the characters were. It did offer a lot of insight into the craziness of the time, and it was well researched and well written. It is historical fiction that reads a lot like a book set in today's environment - and that can be either bad or good depending on how you look at it. I gave it three stars because something about it just annoyed me a little (Not the subject matter). I would say read it if you like historical fiction, keep in mind that it is a bit lengthy.

I was a big fan of The Tudors on Showtime, and enjoyed this story of Catherine Howard, told from the viewpoint of her best friend, Kitty Tylney. Even though I knew the history and what happened, this was still an interesting story.

This is exactly how I pictured Catherine Howard. The selfish teenager who couldn't realize how her actions had consequences to not only herself, but the people around her.
I throughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to any historical fiction fan.

I met the author in person, and she is just lovely. I'm so glad I found this book!
