another day, another book about consumerist societies based on hedonism not being effective in causing happiness that I read in school

Just feel like senior year of high school wasn't the right moment to read this idk

DNF - didn't care for the writing style and wasn't in the mood for the bleak story.

I thought the book was heading in a different direction, so the last bit of the book and the ending were kind of jarring. I really liked the detail given about the world they live in; magnesium-salted almonds to help with aging and such.

so i work in data protection and privacy, and around here everyone expects you read brave new world and 1984 and the circle along with the standard specialist literature. and i did like it, but i read it with one eyebrow raised the whole time. not really my cup of tea, apparently.
